Christian
Affairs Minister visits to examine the welfare arrangements
of the feast of Mother of Our Lady Holy Rosary at Moraththa,
Malsiripura.
Arrangements have been made
to celebrate the above feast on 4th. July 2004. With His
Lordship Raymond Peiris Bishop of Kurunegala as the chief
celebrant.On the invitation of the
Polpithigama Divisional Secretary, a meeting was held chaired
by His Lordship to discuss the welfare measures to be taken
during this feast. Rev. Fr. Jayathilake chief incumbent
of the Kurunegala diocese, Rev. Fathers, Addl. Secretary
Ministry of Christian Affairs, Chairman Polpithigama Pradeshiya
Sabha, Officials from the provincial Ministries of Health
and transport were present.In order
to provide welfare measures to large number of pilgrims
who attend to this feast, the Minister of Christian Affairs
handed over a donation of Rs. 100,000 from the Ministry
of Christian Affairs to His Lordship.

Prayer
Service and Blessing at the Ministry of Christian Affairs
A prayer service & blessing
was held on 27th. April 2004 at the Ministry Office. His Grace
Most Rev: Dr. Oswald Gomis Archbishop of Colombo, their Lordships
Bishop Frank Marcus Fernando, Bishop Raymond Peiris, Bishop
Mariuos Peiris, Rev: Wijedasa Warshamana, Hon Minister Milroy
Fernando were present amidst a gathering of clergy a laity.
On this occasion His Grace Most Rev: Dr. Oswald Gomis said
that Catholics do not expect any special privileges but the
their rights should be safeguarded. His Grace requested the
Hon. Minister to assist in resolving the difficulties and
problems the church is facing in recent times. He thanked
the previous Ministers of Christian Affairs, blessed and wished
the new Minister. Hon. Minister in his reply thanked Her Excellency
for the appointment he had received as Minister of Christian
Affairs and said that all the assistance and steps will be
taken to see that the rights of the Christians are safeguarded.
His Lordship Frank Marcus Fernando, Rev: Wijedasa Warshamanna
also addressed the gathering.
